Josep Caballero García (choreographer, K3)

From 1994 onwards, Josep Caballero García worked as a dancer for Pina Bausch, Urs Dietrich and Xavier le Roy, among others, and explored the diversity of body aesthetics. In 2009 supported by tanzhaus nrw and K3- Tanzplan Hamburg, he developed a Sacre trilogy: Ne danse pas si tu ne veux pas; No 'rait of spring; SACRES. After 3 gender-specific dance productions (T/HE/Y, YBRIDE and As Long as the Night twirls) he continues to explore gender, cultural identities and queerness as an artistic practice. In 2018 he developed together with his artistic team the 2-year concept Queerkreuzüge, together with Kampnagel, Theater Lüneburg and as co-producer HAU. The project was funded by the programme Doppelpass of the German Federal Cultural Foundation.
With his choreographic works and numerous community projects for young people and adults, he is always looking for an open dialogue about current socio-political developments and question the louder calls for a return to homogenous societies. Since 2016 he has been collaborating with the transnational performance group HAJUSOM in Hamburg and since 2020 with the artists collective Vielleicht-regen in Düsseldorf.
