Alejandro Russo

Alejandro Russo got his diploma in Industrial Engineering from the University of Buenos Aires in 2010. Always interested in dance he started dancing Argentine folklore at the early age of 10 years old. Simultaneously to engineering and to explore his artistic motivations, he studied Body Expression and Contemporary Dance in the IUNA (National University Institute of Arts). With the goal to deepen in dance composition and movement analysis, he made in the Folkwang University of the Arts (Essen, Germany) the Master Course Dance Composition with mention in Movement Notation and Movement Analysis which he finished in 2014.
Nowadays, he lives in France where he works as a contemporary freelance dancer and as a choreographer. He created in 2016 his own dance company “La Malagua” associated with the mexican choreographer Scheherazade Zambrano. He is currently working in his first long creation called “Être autre”, which means “To be another”. This piece is an attempt to crystallize the subjective experience of “time-passing” in different working environments and how this can lead us to hypnotic repetitive states. For this, he gets his inspiration in gestures and body-states of workers in factories and bureaucratic or technocratic jobs. For this project, he collaborates with a video-maker and a music composer. The piece will be premiered in autumn 2022
